It Took Just One Trip

No, don't worry knee recovery has taken a step back. Today I'm lamenting the sad demise of my favourite sandals.

One day last month the phone started ringing and as I rushed to get to it before it stopped I caught my foot on a wooden floorboard and well, that was that. One pair of totally wrecked sandals - favourite sandals! You might think I'm being a bit melodramatic here but I loved those sandals and they were always the first pair put in my suitcase ready for holiday, the first pair to welcome the the warmer weather, the last pair I braved the chillier Autumn weather for. Not any more.
I spotted this sketch on Sketchy Thursdays and it really appealed to me and you can see how much I loved my sandals as I have a photo of them on holiday, no really. I can't work out if that is being a true scrapper or a little bit bonkers?

My layout has quite a lot of white space for me and I have to resist the urge to add something. You can't see it in the photo very well but I machine stitched down the circle and where each line ends I added the punched hearts. I had some tiny stickers that were perfect saying 'wear and tear' and 'such is life'. Says it all really.

......as my journaling reads.....goodbye my old friends.

The search is now on for a replacement pair - wish me luck

Aw! and I know how hard it is to find a pair that fits too.

I love that white space and the way you have done your title

Lovely page Amanda. I've taken many photos of shoes in my time, so I understand.

When you say you have a photo of the sandals on holiday ... were you on holiday with them? ;-)

Great layout, love the little pic and all the hearts. No, nothing wrong in documenting and photographing your sandle disaster....not strange in my house anyway.

You know I love a bit of white space and those were lovely sandals. It's very fitting you scrapped them. In fact you've given me inspiration for a footwear LO now.

Ahh, I hate it when that happens! But glad there were no adverse effects on the knee. Love the page and especially the tag and journalling block bottom left ... Great balance.

I wish I could do White spacer this well. Nothing wrong in scrapping goodbye to fav shoes, it is upsetting when you finally have to throw them away

I love this so much! I don't have any children or a partner so I am always looking for fun things to scrap that aren't my cats so the subject of sandles is such a fab idea to me :)

Great layout and I can totally relate to sandals - two of my new pair were "misplaced" on a recent trip and I loved them. Thanks for playing along with Sketchy Thursdays! xoxo

aww it's terrible when this happens, and takes a while before you find another favourite pair. Loving all the white space, something i can never do, and the stitiching!

Great job! I have never thought about scrapbooking shoes - I may have to do one of those too!

Amanda, a gorgeous LO, love the white space and use of the sketch. Great idea to put a heart at the end of each stitching line, love it :) Congrats on winning this weeks prize :)
