Skulls and Angels

When I first discovered Urban Threads this is one of the first designs I stitched. All those tiny beads which I decided to use to make up the skull took a while but I like the effect they give. I made it into a cushion for my hairdresser. Luckily she liked it or else I could have ended up with a wonky haircut. The envelope style back is made from red spot fabric. If you'd like to make your own there are lots of professions to choose from the designs ready to download.

And remember the angel wings well here is the angel they now belong to.

She is from the Tilda's Christmas Ideas book. I really enjoyed making her and you can be sure you'll be seeing more ideas from this book.
Whilst I've enjoyed this phase of sewing I really miss scrapbooking but there are only so many hours in the day but I'll be back to a bit of papercrafting soon as I've got to make some Autumn tags for the monthly swap on UKS.

The Big Stitch

Thank you to those of you who have shown an interest in my taking part in The Big Stitch I now have a Just Giving page up and running so if you would like to donate and in return receive a little knitted heart the link is in my sidebar. If I need to post the heart to you please allow me to email you as I will need your address details. I hope you'll help me knit up a little love.

There has also been lots of stitching going on in the form of sewing here this week. I tend to visit my favourite crafts in phases and at the moment sewing seems to be in favour. Do you remember the baby bodysuit I customised well this week I've done the same to a T-shirt for me.

Don't you just love the design? And my label die came in handy too to use as a template to cut out my design which I stitched on some Amy Butler fabric. Me being me I chose a black T-shirt so it wasn't easy to photograph but I have more designs to stitch yet..........so watch this space.
And I couldn't resist making this fabric bunny after spotting the free downloadable pattern at Revoluzzza I know some of you will want to make one too so let me know if you do and I'd love to see it. My bunny will be getting some friends as I want to make more :-)

That's all for today I have bunnies to sew, hearts to knit..........

Baby Love

This week I downloaded the sweetest embroidery pattern from Urban Threads, master of disguise. Do you like it? I thought it would look good appliqued onto a baby bodysuit I'd recently bought as part of a gift I'm making. I quite fancy one on a T-shirt myself.
I'm glad I did this little bit of sewing as it prompted me to finish a pair of fabric baby shoes that I started making weeks ago.

I think they make a sweet gift together

And to go with them I knitted a matching heart decoration

.........And last but definitely not least a thank you card made for me to say thank you for my part in the hello kitty cushion creation. Designed and made all on her own - a crafter in the making I think :-)

A Real Life Meeting.......

After first *meeting* on UK Scrappers I finally got to meet Michelle aka The Art Tart in real life at Olympia at the Stitch and Craft Show. It was fantastic to see all her work on display and so much more beautiful than in a photo. Can you see the pirate ship in the background? If you haven't seen her projects before you should go check them out. They are available as a PDF and have really clear instructions. I've made the little box of bliss and the birdhouses and if you're a member of UKS you may well recognise the Lollipop Guild LO that was part of the latest cybercrop. There was much to look at and admire and of course I had to make a few purchases. I couldn't resist the many fabrics on sale, don't you just love the dancing couples. I'm not sure what I'm going to make yet but the apples may well end up as a bag and the roses as an apron. The bead stands were really busy and there were lots of good bargains. I picked up some gorgeous crystal beads to make into more rings........and finally if you like needlework you should definitely pay Lazy May a visit. They sell really quirky embroidery patterns and the one I bought says "what shall I do today? bake a gooey chocolate cake. stitch a story. string some bling. knit an alien. felt a flower. build a rocket and fly to the moon........... Quite appropriate considering all the varied purchases I made. I'm looking forward to stitching it and as it's a 20x20cm design think I'll include it into a cushion cover. What my photo doesn't show are some greetings farm stamps and wool roving but I'll share those when I've made a project or two.....

This last photo is from my recent holiday. I just love the colours of the bright flowers which seem to grow everywhere in the caribbean. It seems ages since I did any scrapping so I'm hoping that I'll have a spurt of creativity and have some holiday layouts to show soon.

In the meantime I have new stash to play with...........
