Birds of a Feather

This month at Alter It Monthly the theme is Birds of a Feather. I have a really sweet bird stamp that I thought would be perfect - but how to use it?
I had loads (and I mean loads!) of offcuts from a framers. The particular one I chose to use is the middle of a photo mount so I suppose it is 'altered'. They are perfect for mixed media type work and being quite sturdy can take quite a lot of paint, pasting etc. I wanted a vintage feel to my finished hanging decoration so I covered the base in a book page and painted with cream acrylic. Next I stamped a few flowers in sepia and aged some lace ribbon. I built up my decoration with some die cut flowers from fabric and book pages and of course added my stamped bird image.
I liked doing it so much that I made a butterfly themed one for a friend but I'll share that later in the week.
Why not join in with the challenge you have until the end of the month so get creating.

Lovely piece. Reminds me of a country kitchen and jam making for some reason. Thank you so much for joining in Amanda. :) those birds look very sweet resting against each other.
