Over on UK Scrappers I'm taking part in an altered tag swap and this months theme was 'growing old disgracefully'. My first thought was to look back to my childhood and remember the sweets that I used to enjoy (and still do), like flying saucers, tutti frutti, cola bottles, aniseed balls, spangles.......you get the picture. That's where my little freckled shrimp came in but my idea moved on to using love hearts instead. Good idea in principle but not in practice so I had to be satisfied with using just the wrappers instead. Another of my childhood favourites that's still going strong is Chupa Chups lollies although they don't taste the same today. I recently saw on a TV programme that Salvador Dali designed the logo in the 60's - did you know that? You learn something every day. I also included the song title 'I Want Candy' a song from the 1980's, Annabella Lwin the lead singer with Bow Wow Wow wasn't much older than me at the time and had a very daring haircut.
I'm looking forward to seeing everyone else's take on the theme when I receive them.
What were your favourite childhood sweets?

Fab tag! Great interpretation [and no, I didn't know about the Dali connection either!]
When in Whitby last week we visited an old fashioned sweet shop which had everything! I couldn't actually buy anything as there was too much choice! My faves were flying saicers too, and cherry lips, sherbert lemons, milk bottles, strawberry laces, until they came down my nose .... OK I think I've brought the tone down .... I'll leave now.
;D
Fantastic tag, my fav. sweets from my childhood and still are refesher drumstick lollies and jelly tots. got to be careful with the old gnashers now though! Bowwowwow! now thats a blast from the past. Didn't know about salvidor dali either.
Gosh, you learn something new every day! Love your tag, Amanda! I muszt make one for my handbag. :) Favourite sweets? Well, you are probably all too young to remember the many flavours of Spangles...
Great tag Amanda! Now I'm going to be singing "I Want Candy" for the rest of the day! LOL Sweets from childhood?!? Carob drops - they were my favourite. Bit plain, but I never liked sweets that were too sugary. :D
oohhh I love your tag, it's gorgeous. We have an old fashioned sweet shop not so far from us, and the smell when you walk in ... bliss, really brings back wonderful memories. My husband always stocks up on sweet tabacco, while I fill up with violet creams .. :) ... thanks for making me smile today.
