January Done!

I started well but I was doubtful how long I'd keep it up but I'm pleased to say I've actually completed January in the Calendar 365 challenge and here it is.

I really enjoyed it and I hope it continues as tomorrow I start February.................... of course I had every intention of having my blank February pages ready but somehow I got distracted. Tomorrow is going to be a busy day, first I need to do something about my wafer thin pages before I start slapping on the paint, maybe my bargain 25p book wasn't such a good idea afterall....Well it was called a challenge.

Coming up roses

Last week I made a bargain purchase of a 3" flower punch. It was a perfect find to make some paper roses with. They are definitely very 3D I think I made need to find some silicone to fix them to projects though. At first I wanted to make them from grungepaper but as I didn't have any and I'm impatient I made do with some white textured 12x12 scrapbook paper by doodlebug and some doubled sided paper from Making Memories, both of which I'd had for ages. It's amazing how different they look made from different paper I'm going to try some inked ones next and you never know may even order that grungepaper.

It's nearing the end of the month and I'm happy to say I'm still on track with the Calendar 365 Challenge I'll be back to share my completed January page later but until then I must get on and get February ready.

A New Beginning

Welcome to my new blog home, do you like the new look? I'd been toying with the idea of setting up a new blog and surprisingly it was more straight forward than I'd imagined. I've even suprised myself by acutally doing it. I hope it will now be easier for you to keep up the date with my crafty happenings - if you want to that is!

My website is still up and running it's just that from now on I'll be blogging from here and for my first post I have a couple of crafty projects to share.

First up a birthday card I made last minute as normal. I like square cards and this one is nothing more complicated than a pretty background paper stamped with some butterflies with the addition of a stamped, coloured and cut out butterfly and flower button. The quote stamp comes from The Artistic Stamper

Next is an art journal page I did wanting to try out a mask technique with paint. These pages are 14x22cm and I've cut them from watercolour paper. The only reason I did them this size is that I had some oddments of cardboard I am going to make the cover out of. I hand drew and cut out the mask from some paper. I got the idea from some porridge packaging, it's funny where inspiration comes from but quite often I get ideas from packaging. The collaged flowers are cut from some Amy Butler paper.

I hope you'll pop in again for a visit, see you soon.
